On July 23 2015, 250 Pilot Whales were slaughtered in the Faroe Islands
and the world woke up.
On July 23, 2015, 250 pilot whales were slaughtered on the killing beaches of Bøur and Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands. Though the Faroese government claims that the grindadráp is ‘humane’ and that targeted whales take only seconds to die, Sea Shepherd has captured graphic video footage and photographs that show the slaughter for what it really is – a long, drawn-out, cruel, bloody massacre.
On August 12, another 61 pilot whales were slaughtered on the killing beach of Sandavágur. A total of 490 pilot whales have been slaughtered this year alone.
Twelve Sea Shepherd crewmembers have been arrested during 2015 for standing up in defense of the pilot whales; five have been deported.
Now, we’re asking you to STANDUP alongside our brave crewmembers, in memory of the 250 pilot whales and the many others who have lost their lives on the killing beaches of the Faroe Islands, and in defense of those that are still under threat.
